Dr. Monica Augustina Zhekov

I am an interpreter, linguist and lexicographer providing variety of services in these fields. Professionally I am a Registered Public Service Interpreter and Translator with a proven long track record of success within language based roles. Academically I am a visiting lecturer of Translation and a Romanian language tutor at Middlesex University in London (UK). In addition, I am the creator and developer of an English-Romanian glossary of English criminal law for interpreters and legal professionals using electronic corpora.

I hold a Doctorate of Professional Studies in the field of Lexicography and a Master of Arts in Translation Studies from Middlesex University, London (UK). I also have a Diploma in Public Service Interpreter, Legal Option (Romanian) and Diploma in Police Interpreting (Romanian). I also have a background in pharmacology with NVQ Pharmacy Services - Pharmacy Technician by the UK National Pharmacy Association and in theology with Bachelor in Theology by the Evangelical Theological Seminary, Osijek, Croatia. 

I am a published author who has written number of periodic newsletters for the Evangelical Theological Seminary, Osijek, Croatia, the International Christian Foundation for Theological Education in Central and Eastern Europe and the Bethany Christian Centre in Oradea, Romania. I have also written several articles for ProZ.com Translation Article Knowledge base of freelance translators and translation companies and the Linguist, the professional journal of the Chartered Institute of Linguists. Finally I am the author of Bridging the Vernacular Gap: Safeguarding Devices in English-Romanian Translation (2013).
